Music lovers in the Central Ohio area are in for a treat this Fourth of July as the Central Ohio Symphony will be hosting its annual free concert on Thursday, July 4, at 7:30 p.m. The event will take place at Phillips Glen, located on the main campus of Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware. Conducted by Jaime Morales-Matos, the orchestra will be joined by guest artist Lindsay Uhrich, a recent graduate of DePauw University. Uhrich, known for her remarkable vocal talent, will perform patriotic tunes along with selections from the Broadway hit Wicked.
The concert will feature a variety of patriotic and popular music, including pieces from composer John Williams and the traditional Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture accompanied by theater cannon blasts. The event will conclude with the City of Delaware’s fireworks display.
Attendance for this event is expected to be high, with over 5,000 people joining in recent years. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets to enjoy the concert. Limited reserved seating is available for purchase. Kiwanis will be on-site to provide concessions, and lead sponsors for the event include Willow Brook Christian Communities, Zangmeister Cancer Center, and Mt. Carmel Health Systems.
In case of rain, the concert will be moved to Gray Chapel at Ohio Wesleyan University. For more information and ticket purchase, visit www.centralohiosymphony.org or call (740) 362-1799.
