Delaware and Maryland will face off on the football field once again after a twenty year hiatus. The Blue Hens will travel to College Park to take on the Terps at SECU Stadium on September 9, 2028. This matchup comes as Delaware continues to add Power 4 conference opponents to their schedule following their move to the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision and Conference USA in 2025.
In addition to Maryland, the Blue Hens will also face off against Colorado and Wake Forest in 2025, Virginia in 2026, and Penn State in 2027. The 2028 game against James Madison has also been rescheduled to September 2. The last time Delaware and Maryland met on the football field was in 2008, where Maryland came out on top with a 14-7 win. However, throughout their history as periodic rivals, the Blue Hens have managed to win five out of the ten meetings between the two teams.
Delaware fans and football enthusiasts are looking forward to the renewed rivalry between these neighboring teams.
