The University of Delaware football program has recently announced a new addition to its future schedules. The team will be playing Coastal Carolina in a home-and-home series, with the first game taking place in Newark on September 3, 2026 at Delaware Stadium, followed by a game in Conway, S.C. on September 22, 2029.
This matchup will mark Delaware’s season opener in 2026 and will be the second non-conference FBS opponent to play at Delaware Stadium, following a game against UConn in 2025. The Blue Hens will also be traveling to Virginia for another contest later in September of 2026. This will be the first time that Delaware has faced off against Coastal Carolina, a team that has been an FBS program since 2017.
Coastal Carolina had a successful season last year, finishing 8-5 and winning the EasyPost Hawai’i Bowl against San Jose State. Since moving to the FBS, Coastal Carolina has had a record of 52-35 and has appeared in a bowl game for four consecutive seasons.
Delaware is currently in the process of moving up to the NCAA Division I FBS level and will begin playing in Conference USA in 2025. The addition of an exciting matchup against Coastal Carolina adds to the anticipation surrounding the Blue Hens’ future in college football.
