Federal Authorities are currently investigating the crash of a banner plane that occurred in southern Delaware on the 4th of July. The plane crash-landed upside down in a wooded area near Rickards Road between Roxana and Millville at around 3:50 p.m. The pilot, who had departed from Bunting Field in Berlin, Maryland, around 3:00 p.m., managed to survive the crash with reportedly no serious injuries. The plane went down after flying along the beach for nearly an hour.
Upon arrival at the scene, emergency crews discovered the plane across a field, with the pilot already outside of the aircraft. A local woman who witnessed the crash made the initial 911 call, prompting a response from Delaware State Police who are working alongside federal investigators.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the cause of the incident. The pilot’s quick thinking and ability to navigate the crash landing without sustaining serious injuries are being praised.
