Boyce suspension sees new allegations emerge

Delaware County Director of Emergency Services, Timothy Boyce, is facing at least two claims of sexual discrimination, including one alleging sexual assault, even though he is currently suspended from his position. The complaints, filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, highlight instances of inappropriate behavior by Boyce towards female employees.

One claim states that Boyce grabbed a woman’s buttocks and attempted to kiss her in his office, leading her to quit her job due to the emotional distress caused by the incident. Another claim alleges a pattern of discrimination against older women in the workplace, with Boyce showing a preference for hiring and promoting attractive young women.

Despite being suspended, Boyce denies any wrongdoing and has not responded to calls for comment. The county is cooperating with an investigation into the matter, which has been taken over by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office to ensure fairness. While the investigation is ongoing, Boyce remains on administrative leave.

Attorney Mark Schwartz, representing the complainants, has called for Boyce’s immediate termination and believes criminal prosecution may be warranted based on the evidence available. He has criticized county officials for their handling of the situation and their lack of response to his attempts to communicate with them.

The County Council chair, Dr. Monica Taylor, has stated that the council was made aware of the investigation into Boyce’s behavior on April 25 and took immediate action to place him on leave. Taylor hopes the investigation will be concluded soon so that more information can be released regarding the allegations against Boyce.
