A tragic hit-and-run incident on Friday afternoon in Ogletown resulted in the death of a 57-year-old Newark man. The man, whose identity has not been released pending notification of his family, was walking along Salem Church Road when he was struck by a vehicle that then fled the scene. The incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. near Michaels Lane.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries. Delaware State Police are appealing to the public for any information regarding the incident. The vehicle involved is described as an unknown white vehicle that drifted onto the shoulder of the road and struck the man before driving away northbound on Salem Church Road. It is believed that the vehicle may have sustained damage to the front right side.
Anyone who witnessed the accident or has information about the vehicle or driver involved is asked to contact Delaware State Police Senior Cpl. M.
