The Concord Equestrian Team competed at the Youth Equestrian Development Association (YEDA) National Championship and made history by winning both the middle school and high school titles, the first time this has occurred in YEDA history. Coached by Jessica Daniels, the team was founded in 2012 and had its largest team to date in the 2023-24 season, with 27 riders. The YEDA format requires catch riding, where riders are randomly assigned horses to compete on, which adds an additional challenge to the sport.
Throughout the season, the team earned enough points to qualify for the National Championship, with 23 riders qualifying as individuals and both the high school and middle school teams also qualifying. At the championship, the Concord Equestrian Team excelled, with seven individual national championship titles, one reserve national championship title, and numerous top-10 placings. Rider Carly Heiss was also named the 2024 YEDA Queen. Despite the success of the past season, the team is already preparing for the next season, with registration beginning in August.
Interested riders can join the Concord Equestrian Team for the upcoming season by taking weekly riding lessons at JD Show Horses and participating in team activities. The team’s success at the YEDA National Championship showcases their dedication, teamwork, and skill in the sport of equestrian.
