Bishops’ Amacher Earns Selection to Academic All-America Teams

Ohio Wesleyan University junior Spencer Amacher has been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America men’s at-large teams, where he was recognized as a first-team selection. This marks Amacher’s second consecutive year receiving this honor, following his third-team selection in 2023. A member of the men’s lacrosse team, Amacher tied for second in scoring this season with 20 goals and 18 assists. He also ranked highly in the North Coast Athletic Conference for assists per game and points per game. Amacher, who is majoring in biochemistry, becomes the first Ohio Wesleyan men’s lacrosse player to receive Academic All-America recognition.

In addition to Amacher’s recognition, the Ohio Wesleyan University volleyball team also received accolades for their academic achievements. The team was awarded the Team Academic Award by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, making it the fifth consecutive year that the Battling Bishops have received this honor. To be eligible for the award, teams must maintain a yearlong grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale. More than 1400 collegiate and high school volleyball teams were recognized by the AVCA for their academic excellence.

Both Ohio Wesleyan University teams are being commended for their dedication to academic and athletic success, setting an example for student-athletes on and off the field. Amacher, in particular, is paving the way for his teammates and future players in the men’s lacrosse program with his impressive achievements in the classroom and on the field.
