The Delaware Community Foundation recently announced that they have awarded 151 scholarships to 191 students for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year, totaling a record $652,000. These scholarships aim to provide financial relief to Delawarean students and their families, acknowledging the high costs associated with pursuing higher education. The scholarships are made possible through funds established by generous individuals who understand the value of education and want to support students in their academic endeavors.
Scholarships are awarded without a cap on the number of recipients or the amount of funding they may receive. The awards can be used to cover tuition, textbooks, fees, and other educational expenses. Some scholarships are one-time awards, while others are renewable. The recipients come from various counties in Delaware, including Kent, New Castle, Sussex, and even some from out of state.
The Delaware Community Foundation encourages students to apply for scholarships by providing detailed information on their website, delcf.org/scholarships. They also offer assistance to donors who wish to create scholarship funds, with interested parties encouraged to contact Kelly Sheridan at ksheridan@delcf.org.
The foundation’s President and CEO, Stuart Comstock-Gay, expressed gratitude to the fundholders and philanthropists who contribute to these scholarships, recognizing the positive impact they have on the lives of young people pursuing higher education. The scholarships aim to alleviate the financial burden and make education more accessible for students in Delaware.
