Family of drowned boy calls for further arrests as 10- and 11-year-olds charged weeks after incident

The family of 8-year-old Noah Bush, who drowned in a construction pit in Georgia, is calling for more arrests and a deeper investigation into his death, which has been ruled a homicide. Two boys, ages 10 and 11, were arrested and charged in his death. An attorney for the family alleged that there may have been adults who helped cover up the boys’ actions. Initially, the sheriff’s department claimed Noah’s death was an accident, but later determined it was a homicide after discovering one of the boys had pushed him into the water. Hundreds protested the initial ruling, and Noah’s mother believed there was more to his death.
The arrests came 55 days after Noah’s body was found, and Natalie Hardison, the mother of one of the boys, was also arrested for making false statements. Noah’s family believes the sheriff’s office almost overlooked his death and criticized their handling of the investigation. The family is grateful for the district attorney’s decision to charge the boys and Hardison. Noah’s community is described as tight-knit but impoverished, and his family is still searching for answers and justice. The family’s attorney believes that anyone involved in concealing the boys’ actions should be held accountable. The investigation is ongoing, and the district attorney has not commented on the prosecution of the case. Noah was Black, and the two boys arrested are white, raising questions about racial bias in the case.
