New Food Service Director Hired by District

Delaware City Schools has recently hired a new food service director, David K. Drennen, who is a Delaware resident with experience overseeing Meals on Wheels in central Ohio counties. The district also approved the purchase of a new truck to haul band equipment, which will be used to pull the band trailer and will be fitted with a plow for winter months. The board also approved an overnight field trip for the cross country team to attend a camp in Lakeside, Ohio.
In addition to these decisions, the board approved several resignations and employments, including new teachers and educational assistants at various schools within the district. The board will meet again on August 5 for their final meeting before the start of the 2024-2025 school year on August 14, where new student board member Greta Walraven will be sworn in.
The district is excited about the new food service director and the energy he will bring to the food service program. Director of Facilities and Transportation, Jason Sherman, mentioned ongoing projects at various elementary schools and the completion of bathroom renovations at Carlisle Elementary before the start of the school year. The purchase of the new truck will make it easier to navigate tight spaces compared to the previous box truck that hauled band equipment.
Overall, Delaware City Schools is making changes and additions to ensure a successful start to the upcoming school year. For more information, contact Glenn Battishill at 740-413-0903.
