Regulations established for craft brewers by the Commission

The Delaware County Regional Planning Commission recently met to discuss a rezoning request from Henmick LLC, a local craft brewer in Brown Township. The proposal includes plans for an event center, banquet facility, restaurant/bar, brewery, and more on 90 acres of land. Despite concerns about traffic, drainage, and other issues, the staff recommended denying the request. After much discussion, the commission ultimately voted to deny the rezoning based on the staff’s recommendations and inconsistencies with the comprehensive plan.

In addition to the discussion of Henmick LLC, the commission approved three final plats in Berlin Township and heard about other rezoning requests in Harlem and Concord Townships. They are also working on comprehensive plans for Berkshire and Liberty townships, as well as a Safety Action Plan for Delaware City.

The commission recognized the passing of Marvin Miller, who served as a representative from Porter Township, and discussed the possibility of updating the County-wide Master Plan at their next meeting. The Technical Review Committee also met to discuss the Parkside at Evans Farm subdivision project in Berlin Township.

Meetings of the Delaware County Regional Planning Commission are typically held at the Byxbe Campus Conference Room in Delaware. Scott B. Sanders serves as the executive director, and more information can be found on their website. Assistant Editor Gary Budzak covers news in the eastern half of Delaware County.
