The Elks held their first annual picnic over the weekend at Heising summer resort on the Metolius River, attended by hundreds from surrounding towns. The event included campfires, dancing, and a moonlight serenade. Five-year-old Robert Fairfield climbed Bachelor Butte, becoming the youngest mountain climber in the northwest. The city council ordered plans for pavement improvements on Hill Street and Irving Street.
