Navigating the Festival: Routes, Lineup, and Parking Options

Thousands are expected to attend the Rochester Pride Parade on South Avenue in celebration of Pride Month. The parade has moved from its usual route on Park Avenue to accommodate larger crowds. This year’s event will feature a bustling musical and drag lineup, vendors, and parking restrictions. The festival at Highland Park will include games, food trucks, and live music until 6 p.m.

The event’s musical headliner is Nina Sky, with other performers including DJ Citizen Jane and Drag Race alumni. The theme for this year’s Pride Parade is Pride Galaxy, so attendees are encouraged to dress in space-themed attire. Participants are urged to avoid parking on neighborhood streets and utilize ride-sharing services. Paid parking will be available at the Al Sigl Center, with free parking for individuals with disabilities at the Lilac Adventure Zone.

Rochester has a long history of celebrating Pride, with events dating back to the 1970s including a sit-in at Genesee Valley Park and the annual Pride Picnic. The first Pride Parade was held in 1989 and has since evolved into a larger celebration with the addition of the Pride Festival. Pride Month in Rochester is typically celebrated in July, with events like the Official Pride Bar Crawl and drag brunches.
