Several Houthi targets in Yemen struck by IDF in retaliation for attacks

The Israeli army carried out strikes on Houthi targets in western Yemen in retaliation for a fatal drone attack on Tel Aviv. The airstrikes, the first on Yemeni soil since the Israel-Hamas war began, killed three and injured at least 87 people, according to a Houthi spokesperson. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the port targeted as a location used for military purposes by Iran to supply the Houthis. The Houthi rebels condemned the Israeli aggression, stating that the attacks aim to increase the suffering of the people and pressure Yemen to stop supporting Gaza. They vowed to support Gaza despite the attacks. Pictures and videos showed a large fire and smoke rising from the targeted sites. Hamas condemned the airstrikes as a massacre and a dangerous escalation. The Houthis had claimed responsibility for a drone strike near a U.S. Embassy branch office in Tel Aviv the previous day, which killed one civilian and injured several others. A civilian was found dead in an apartment building hit by the drone strike. Concerns are mounting over escalating tensions in the region as both sides engage in retaliatory strikes.
