Local MP condemns disrespect shown by rioting individuals towards Southport stabbing victims’ families in latest incident

Southport MP Patrick Hurley has condemned the violent rioters who attacked police and a mosque in the aftermath of a knife attack that killed three children in the town. The protesters, believed to be supporters of the English Defence League, clashed with police, leaving thirty-nine officers injured.

In response to the violence, Hurley stated that these rioters should face the “full force of the law” and criticized them for disrespecting the families of the victims and the town itself. He emphasized that these were not local residents, but rather individuals who had come to Southport to engage in violence for their own political purposes.

In the wake of the riots, the community has come together to repair the damage done to the mosque and other properties. Local residents expressed their disgust and dismay at the actions of the rioters, with one shop owner highlighting the impact on her business and the town.

The mother of one of the children killed in the knife attack also condemned the violence, calling for an end to the unrest in Southport. The suspect, a 17-year-old boy, remains in custody as the motive for the attack remains unclear.

Overall, the community of Southport is uniting against the violence and working towards healing and rebuilding in the aftermath of the tragic events.
