Inaugural Training Academy Class of the DCSO

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office recently held its first ever training academy graduation, where nine individuals became peace officers in their respective communities. Members from the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, Delaware Police Department, and Lancaster Police Department all graduated from the program. Delaware County Prosecutor Melissa A. Schiffel, who has worked closely with law enforcement throughout her career, expressed her pride in seeing officers she has worked with advance in their careers.
Schiffel emphasized the importance of investing in the community, both on and off duty, and praised law enforcement officers for their dedication to helping others. She urged citizens to show respect and gratitude towards law enforcement officers, reminding them of the sacrifices these officers make to protect their communities.
She encouraged the public to support law enforcement by attending events like the annual “Back the Blue” rally, where officers and deputies are honored for their service. Schiffel emphasized the impact a simple thank you can have on law enforcement officers and encouraged citizens to show their appreciation.
