Live coverage: Trump speaks at North Carolina rally following Vance’s assertion that Harris is effectively serving as president under Biden administration | US elections 2024

Former President Donald Trump recently made some bold claims during a rally in North Carolina. Trump stated that if he is re-elected, he would sign an executive order on his first day back in office to combat inflation and bring consumer prices down. However, he did not provide a detailed plan on how he would achieve this, other than mentioning boosting oil and gas production in the United States.

During the rally, Trump also criticized the current state of the US economy, claiming that the country had become a “third-world nation” and that the American dream was “dead”. He also attacked Vice President Kamala Harris, accusing her of making California “unlivable” and breaking the economy.

In terms of his achievements during his presidency, Trump touted passing the largest tax cuts and regulation cuts in history. However, analysis has shown that the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 was not the largest tax cut in US history, and the impact on workers was limited.

Addressing the issue of job creation, Trump claimed credit for significant drops in Black and Hispanic unemployment during his presidency. However, experts note that these declines were part of a longer-term trend that predated Trump’s administration.

Overall, Trump expressed confidence in his ability to win back the White House in a “historic landslide”, claiming to lead the biggest political movement in US history alongside his supporters. Despite facing criticism for his claims and policy proposals, Trump remains a polarizing figure in American politics.
