New elementary school revealed in Olentangy.

Olentangy Local Schools unveiled its newest facility, Peachblow Crossing Elementary School, to the public on Sunday in a grand opening event. The school, located in Berlin Township, is the district’s 17th elementary school and was funded by a 2020 levy approved by voters. The $31.6 million school is part of a larger plan that includes the construction of Shale Meadows Elementary School and Berlin Middle School.

Principal Katie Grijak expressed gratitude and pride in the completion of Peachblow Crossing Elementary, noting the hard work of the Olentangy staff, partners, and community. The 83,000-square-foot building, which will open at 96% capacity with over 600 students, is seen as a crucial addition to the growing district. However, the district is already planning for future growth, with enrollment expected to surpass building capacity by the 2026-27 school year.

Despite a recent levy campaign being turned down by voters, the Olentangy Local School District is preparing for future ballot initiatives to address the ongoing growth in the area. Board of Education President Brandon Lester emphasized the need for additional funding to support the district’s expanding student population. Peachblow Crossing Elementary represents a positive step in managing overcrowding in Olentangy schools, but further action will be necessary to accommodate the district’s continued growth.
