The latest update from the Cook Political Report Swing State Project Survey shows Kamala Harris leading or tied with Donald Trump in all but one of the seven swing states surveyed. Harris leads Trump by a narrow margin of 48% to 47% in the combined seven states. Harris’ favorability has also increased significantly since May, with more Republicans registering to vote in Pennsylvania and North Carolina after she entered the race.
In the latest NYT/Siena poll, Trump’s margin among non-college-educated whites in states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin has decreased. Harris is also ahead of Trump in Nate Silver’s national polling average by 3.1 percentage points. Additionally, a poll from Associated Press-NORC shows that Harris is perceived to have an advantage over Trump in several leadership qualities.
The primary election results in Minnesota saw Rep. Ilhan Omar winning her rematch against Don Samuels in the 5th District, while former federal prosecutor Joe Teirab secured the Republican primary to face Democratic Rep. Angie Craig in the 2nd District. Furthermore, former NBA player Royce White won the Republican primary to challenge Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar in Minnesota’s U.S. Senate race.
Wisconsin voters decisively rejected two constitutional amendments that would have limited the powers of Democratic Gov. Tony Evers. In Missouri, Republican officials finally certified an amendment for the November ballot that would restore abortion rights in the state. The amendment would require a simple majority vote to pass and would end the state’s near-total ban on abortion. Republican legislators in Missouri had attempted to sabotage the amendment in multiple ways.
