Official: UN Aid Operations in Gaza Halted Following Israeli Evacuation Orders | Update on Israel-Palestine Conflict

The United Nations has been forced to halt its aid operations in Gaza due to Israel’s new evacuation orders for Deir el-Balah in the central Gaza Strip. The UN official stated that they are unable to deliver aid under the current conditions, as they had relocated their operations to Deir el-Balah after previous evacuation orders. The UN emphasized the need to balance the safety of its personnel with the assistance needed by the population.

While UNRWA, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, can continue operating due to being embedded in the population, other UN agencies are unable to move people and distribute aid. The Israeli military’s evacuation orders have disrupted UN humanitarian aid operations, leaving staff scrambling for safety and sleep arrangements.

The evacuation orders, which have affected Deir el-Balah and other areas, have displaced Palestinians from their homes and places of refuge. The World Food Programme’s operations in Gaza have also been severely affected, with food distribution centres and community kitchens disrupted. The shrinking humanitarian zone declared by Israel has limited the areas where aid can be provided.

The suspension of aid by the UN will deeply affect the people in Gaza who rely on their help. Human rights groups and international observers have criticized the evacuation orders and the mass suffering caused by them. Palestinians have been attacked by Israel while being evacuated to “safe areas,” leaving many uncertain about where they will sleep or how they will survive. The people of Gaza are struggling to live a normal life amidst the ongoing conflicts and displacement.
