Stitch House Brewery, downtown Wilmington’s only craft brewery, has closed after being sold to the owners of the popular Bardea empire. Scott Stein and chef Antimo DiMeo have purchased the space with plans to re-concept the location and open a neighborhood gastropub, adding to their roster of successful restaurants in the area.
The sale of Stitch House Brewery came as a surprise, as Bardea spokesperson Marie DiFeliciantonio mentioned that news of the purchase was announced ahead of schedule. Despite not having a menu or name yet, the new restaurant is expected to serve as a neighborhood gastropub. The timeline for the opening has not been disclosed, but more information may be released in the coming weeks.
Established in 2018, Stitch House Brewery was known for its house-made craft beers, craft cocktails, and sandwich-and-skillet menu. The sale of the brewery marks the end of its six and a half year run in downtown Wilmington, leaving behind a legacy of live music events and a popular weekly music-and-interview series.
While the former owners of Stitch House Brewery, Daniel Sheridan and Robert Snowberger, have decided to focus on their new restaurant venture, The Post, the space will reopen for one night only for Frank-A-Palooza, an annual tailgate-themed event in honor of the late Frank Kaszeta. The event will feature DJ sets, tailgate food, and the last pours of Stitch House’s craft brews before the space undergoes its transformation.
