Cole Perdue of Yorktown football chosen as the Delaware County Athlete of the Week


Cole Perdue, a junior football player at Yorktown High School, has been named the Delaware County Athlete of the Week for his outstanding performance during the week of Monday, Aug. 19 to Saturday, Aug. 24. In a game against Anderson on Friday, Aug. 23, Perdue scored two touchdowns, one of which was a pick-six, helping his team secure a 42-2 victory.

The Ball State Daily News has initiated this program to recognize athletes who have shown exceptional skills or had a breakthrough moment during the week. Candidates are selected and the community is invited to vote for their favorite. The winner is announced the following day after the voting closes at 5 p.m. To suggest a student-athlete for consideration or to cast a vote, readers can reach out to the Daily News sports editors via email.

The nominees for the next athlete of the week, from Monday, Aug. 26 to Saturday, Aug. 31, will be revealed on Sunday, Sept. 1 at noon. This initiative aims to highlight the achievements and talents of local athletes and provide them with the recognition they deserve. Cole Perdue’s exceptional performance on the field has earned him this prestigious title, and his determination and skill have set a high standard for future nominees to follow.
