A recent report by Public Policy Polling indicates that Kamala Harris is performing better than Joe Biden did four years ago, with a potential 5-point lead in the popular vote and a victory in the Electoral College. NPR has updated its swing state predictions to label all Sun Belt states as toss-ups. Harris is now at 270 in a poll-based map, putting her at the winning number.

In Texas’ 18th District, Erica Lee Carter is set to succeed her late mother, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, in a special election. In New Hampshire’s 2nd District, Maggie Goodlander leads in the Democratic primary despite a decrease in polling numbers.

Republican Lt. Gov. Nancy Dahlstrom dropped out of the race in Alaska’s at-large district, benefitting Democratic Rep. Mary Peltola. The Alaska Supreme Court rejected a lawsuit against a ballot measure to repeal the state’s unique primary system.

In Nebraska, dueling abortion amendments qualified for the ballot. Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. suspended his campaign and endorsed Donald Trump. Michigan Republicans nominated candidates for the state Supreme Court to try and gain a majority.

In Montana, proposed amendments to change the electoral system await voter approval. A hand recount in Washington for the land commissioner race is pending due to a narrow margin. Harris also leads in election forecasting models.
