Delaware Hayes opened the high school football season with a 28-14 victory over rival Buckeye Valley, thanks in large part to a stellar performance by running back Favour Akih. Akih ran for 231 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Pacers to victory. Despite an early lead by Buckeye Valley, Delaware Hayes took control of the game with a strong ground game and solid defense.

Buckeye Valley got on the board first with a 99-yard punt return for a touchdown by Zaine Furr, but Delaware Hayes responded with a balanced offensive attack led by Akih and quarterback Caleb Rowe. Akih had two long touchdown runs in the fourth quarter to seal the victory for the Pacers.

In other high school football action, Olentangy Liberty shut out Olentangy 28-0, led by quarterback Andrew Leonard’s efficient performance. Olentangy Orange dominated Marysville 49-13 behind quarterback Levi Davis’ four total touchdowns. Olentangy Berlin defeated DeSales 17-10 in a hard-fought contest, while Watterson blanked Big Walnut 20-0 in their season opener.
