UH football triumphs in season opener against Delaware State, ending with a score of 35-14


The University of Hawaiʻi football team kicked off their season with a strong 35-14 win over Delaware State, with quarterback Brayden Schager leading the way with two passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns. Tylan Hines also made a big impact with a 44-yard punt return for a touchdown in the first quarter. The Warriors dominated in the second half, scoring 21 unanswered points to secure the victory in front of a crowd of 12,206 at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex.

Schager completed 17 of 34 passes for 203 yards and rushed for 38 yards, spreading the ball around to eight different receivers. Pofele Ashlock led the team with five receptions for 81 yards. Defensively, linebacker Jamih Otis had a career-high 11 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss, as the Warriors forced Delaware State to punt on their first seven possessions and the last five of the game.
