Teachers’ Teammates, a nonprofit organization based in Folcroft, Pennsylvania, is helping teachers in Delaware County get ready for the upcoming school year by providing them with much-needed classroom supplies. With the first day of school approaching, Teachers’ Teammates operates a warehouse stocked with folders, crayons, notebooks, backpacks, and more.
Founded and led by Raelyn Harman, the nonprofit allows teachers to request specific school supplies, which are then packed up and either picked up at the warehouse or delivered to their schools. Teachers can become members of the nonprofit for a fee and are eligible to receive up to 25 items once a quarter for free, significantly reducing the financial burden on educators who often spend their own money on supplies.
With a growing demand for school supplies, Teachers’ Teammates relies on donations from organizations and financial contributions to keep up with the need. Harman mentioned that the nonprofit also accepts donations from companies looking to get rid of excess office supplies during a move. The organization’s goal is to eventually move into a larger warehouse to serve more schools in Delaware County.
As the school year approaches, Teachers’ Teammates continues to support educators in preparing their classrooms for students, ensuring that teachers have the resources they need to create a conducive learning environment. The organization’s efforts have been well-received by teachers like Stephanie Ellis, who expressed gratitude for the support provided by Teachers’ Teammates in easing the financial burden of purchasing school supplies.
