There is Strong Turnout for Early Voting in Delaware’s Primary Election

Delawareans are making the most of the early voting period for this year’s Primary Election, with a significant increase in voter turnout compared to the previous election cycle. As of Thursday, 12,590 people in Delaware had already cast their votes early, a stark contrast to the 1,571 who had done so at the same point in 2022.

Sussex County has seen the highest number of early voters so far, with 6,143 residents taking advantage of the early voting period. New Castle County follows closely behind with 4,544 early voters, while Kent County has had 1,903 residents cast their ballots early.

Early voting began on August 28 and will continue through Sunday at 18 different sites across the state. The Margaret H. Rollins Community Center in Lewes has been particularly popular among voters, with 1,881 people voting there. The Hudson State Service Center in Newark and the Millville Community Center have also seen a considerable number of early voters.

With the Primary Election scheduled for Tuesday in Delaware, residents are encouraged to make their voices heard by participating in early voting or heading to the polls on election day. The increase in early voter turnout reflects a growing interest and engagement in the electoral process among Delawareans.
