As high school sports in Delaware kick off, teams are wasting no time making their mark in the rankings. The News Journal reports that in the first week of fall sports action, numerous teams have already made moves in the rankings.
In football, the top spot in Division I is currently held by Howard High School, with Smyrna High School close behind in second place. In Division II, Woodbridge High School sits at the top of the rankings, followed by St. Elizabeth High School in second place.
On the soccer field, the boys’ rankings are led by Salesianum School in Division I and Indian River High School in Division II. For the girls, Padua Academy holds the top spot in Division I, while Caravel Academy leads the way in Division II.
In field hockey, Cape Henlopen High School is the team to beat in Division I, while Delmar High School is making waves in Division II.
The cross country rankings are also heating up, with Wilmington Charter leading the way in the boys’ rankings and Padua Academy leading the girls’ rankings.
As the fall sports season gets into full swing, it’s clear that these teams are ready to compete at the highest level. With new rankings being released weekly, fans can expect to see plenty of juggling in the standings as teams vie for the top spot.
