Chicago White Sox set new record for most losses in a single season with 121st defeat

The Chicago White Sox suffered their 121st loss of the season, breaking the MLB record set by the New York Mets in 1962. Despite winning 93 games in 2021, the team has been on a decline, winning only 81 games in 2022 and 61 games last season. The offense has been a major issue, with the team ranking near the bottom in several statistical categories. The White Sox have struggled with hits, runs, home runs, batting average, runs batted in, total bases, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage. First baseman Andrew Vaughn has the highest batting average on the team at .248. The team started the season with a 3-22 record, the worst 25-game start in franchise history. They also lost 21 consecutive games at one point, becoming the first team since 1988 to do so. Despite winning nine games each in May and June, the team only won seven games combined in July and August. The White Sox posted a picture on social media showing their frustration with negative comments, opting to shut down social media for the day. The team has two games left in the season, with only 39 wins so far.
