Sunbury Mayor Joseph St. John recently spoke at an open house event celebrating the completion of the city’s newly renovated Municipal Building, located at 9 E. Granville St. The Mayor praised the renovations as a testament to city staff and a step towards increased efficiency for residents. Despite the renovations, the building remained open, with staff continuing to work underground and operations being temporarily shifted elsewhere. The renovations were completed in August, and the official reopening was held on Sept. 26.
One notable change to the building includes the relocation of the unserviceable flag drop box to the rear of the building. This allows residents to easily drive up and dispose of their unserviceable flags, which will then be properly collected and disposed of by the Sunbury VFW Post 8736. In other news, the City’s Events and Commemorations Committee discussed plans for the upcoming Christmas on the Square event, as the usual carriage for Santa and Mrs. Claus will not be available this year. The committee is seeking Christmas carolers for the event and encouraged interested volunteers to reach out for more information.
Overall, the renovations to Sunbury’s Municipal Building have been completed successfully, and the City looks forward to utilizing the improved space to better serve the community. Additionally, preparations for the annual Christmas on the Square event are underway, with the committee working to ensure a festive and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
