Ohio Wesleyan University men’s soccer coach Jay Martin has been selected to the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association Hall of Fame as part of its inaugural class. Martin, who has been coaching at OWU since 1977, holds the record for the most wins in NCAA history with 767 victories. His teams have won 26 conference titles and have reached the NCAA Division III semifinals nine times, with two national championships in 1998 and 2011.
Martin’s contributions to collegiate soccer extend beyond just coaching, as he has also served as the president of the NSCAA and was a member of the NCAA Division III selection committee. He has been named the NSCAA national Coach of the Year three times and has received numerous awards for his coaching achievements.
In a statement, Joe Bergin, men’s soccer coach at Marietta College and a member of the executive committee of the OCSA, highlighted Martin’s outstanding dedication and leadership in the world of collegiate soccer. The first class of the OCSA Hall of Fame represents a diverse group of individuals whose exceptional careers continue to inspire future generations.
