Connections Volunteer Center is gearing up for its annual Make A Difference Delaware County (MDDC) event on Nov. 9, and they are looking for volunteers to participate. This year, MDDC aims to serve older adults 55-plus in need and make a positive impact in the community through various service projects. Last year, nearly 500 volunteers joined in, completing 94 projects such as leaf raking and yard maintenance.
Registration for volunteers is open until Oct. 26, and those interested can sign up on the Connections Volunteer Center website or by contacting them directly. Team leaders will distribute assignments and t-shirts prior to the event, which will be followed by lunch at The Barn at Stratford.
According to the U.S. Surgeon General’s Advisory, social connection plays a crucial role in reducing the risk of premature mortality. MDDC coordinator Ty Lee emphasized the importance of volunteerism in fostering social connections and improving overall well-being.
The event is made possible by the support of sponsors, and this year’s sponsors include SourcePoint, Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial, and Ohio Living – Sarah Moore, among others. Connections Volunteer Center works to connect volunteers with community needs and has partnered with over 60 nonprofits to address social issues and make a collective difference.
With a 25-year history of matching volunteers and investing back into Delaware County, Connections Volunteer Center continues to be a vital asset in promoting volunteerism and community engagement. To get involved or learn more about their programs, visit www.ConnectionsVolunteerCenter.org.
