A closer look at three townships in north-central Delaware County, including Marlboro, Troy, and Delaware Townships, reveals unique characteristics and features that make them stand out in the region. Delaware Township, for example, boasts over 12 miles of roads intertwined with the City of Delaware, as well as the Stratford Ecological Center, a privately owned state nature preserve. Marlboro Township, the smallest of the county’s 18 townships, borders two other counties and is named after Marlborough, New York. Lastly, Troy Township, located above Delaware City, is mainly a single-family residential, rural area with potential suburban growth pressures in the future due to the expansion of Delaware City.
Each township has its own set of trustees, zoning commissions, fire protection, and emergency medical services. Residents in these townships can access valuable resources and information through their respective township halls or websites. The uniqueness of each township adds to the rich tapestry of Delaware County beyond the confines of the City of Delaware.
