Blue Delaware: The Political Report for October 28, 2024

In a recent ABC News/Ipsos poll, Kamala Harris is shown to be leading Donald Trump among likely voters nationally by a margin of 51% to 47%, with some pro-Harris groups showing a higher propensity to vote. Harris has also widened her advantage among suburban women and regained a more typical Democratic advantage among Hispanic voters. However, a CNN poll found the two candidates tied at 47% nationally, with a slight percentage of undecided voters and potential for votes to change.

In battleground states, a CBS/YouGov poll shows Harris just ahead of Trump by 50% to 49%, while Lake Research Partners’ 10-day tracking average shows Harris maintaining her lead over Trump. Furthermore, a Washington Post-Schar School poll in Virginia has Harris leading by 49% to 43%.

Meanwhile, a Gallup poll indicates concerns among Americans about Trump’s alignment with radical views, with 41% very concerned. Despite this, a Wall Street Journal poll shows that the majority of voters believe Harris would continue President Biden’s policies rather than bring fresh ideas.

With fewer polls being conducted this year due to changing polling audience behaviors, there are still concerns about reaching a representative sample of voters. However, Harris is making efforts to appeal to male voters in battleground states through tailored ads.

In the lead-up to the presidential election, both candidates are making strategic moves to attract voters in key swing states, with Harris focusing on Pennsylvania and Michigan, and Trump targeting New York among other states.
