Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris is pulling out all the stops in the final week of the 2024 campaign, enlisting a lineup of A-list celebrities to endorse her and energize voters. Partnering with icons like Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, and Beyoncé, Harris hopes to galvanize supporters and drive them to the polls.
During a recent church service and early vote event in Georgia, Harris was joined by Stevie Wonder, who belted out Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song” to pump up the crowd. The event featured performances by legendary musicians, speeches from celebrities like Spike Lee and Samuel L. Jackson, and was followed by a rally in Texas with Willie Nelson and a speech by Beyoncé.
Harris’ running mate, Tim Walz, has also benefited from the star-studded support, with singer-songwriter James Taylor performing at events alongside the governor in North Carolina. The campaign has embraced the “When We Vote We Win” concert series, aiming to encourage early voting in battleground states with the help of high-profile artists.
While Trump has some celebrity support from figures like Kid Rock and Hulk Hogan, he lacks the star power that Harris boasts. The focus on celebrity endorsements can energize Democratic supporters, but it also runs the risk of overshadowing crucial issues with a candidate’s message, as seen in Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign.
As the final countdown to the election kicks in, Harris is set to headline rallies in Wisconsin, Arizona, and Las Vegas with performances from Gracie Abrams, Los Tigres del Norte, and Maná. The celebrity-infused events are expected to rally supporters and drive turnout, but whether this strategy will secure victory for Harris remains to be seen.
