Most Delaware Democrats Think Bethany Hall-Long Should Withdraw from Governor Race Due to Ethics Issues

A recent survey of likely Democratic voters in Delaware conducted by the Citizens for a New Delaware Way Political Action Committee (CNDW) revealed that a majority of voters believe Lieutenant Governor Bethany Hall-Long should suspend her campaign amid ethics scandals surrounding her campaign finance practices. The poll found that 51% of registered Democrats think Hall-Long should end her bid for Governor due to multiple violations of Delaware law, including inaccurate and misleading campaign finance statements and receiving donations over the legal limit from unregistered organizations. Furthermore, Hall-Long’s husband allegedly stole contact lists of Section 8 housing recipients to pressure them to vote for her. In light of these revelations, just 32% of voters believe her campaign should continue.

The survey also showed that New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer holds a 27-23 lead over Hall-Long in the Democratic primary race, with 11% of voters supporting Collin O’Mara and 31% remaining undecided. The poll results come following CNDW’s media campaign to increase visibility of Hall-Long’s ethical lapses and promote a more transparent and inclusive government in Delaware. PAC spokesperson Chris Coffey emphasized that Hall-Long’s record raises concerns about her ability to manage campaign finances and allocate opioid relief funding. The PAC plans to ramp up advertising efforts in the coming weeks to ensure voters understand the implications of this election. Citizens for a New Delaware Way is dedicated to promoting judicial diversity and transparency in the state government and court system and is not supporting Hall-Long’s candidacy due to her involvement in illegal and deceptive behavior.
