A couple from Connecticut, Jadion Richards and Akwele Lawes-Richards, were arrested and charged with organized retail theft after allegedly stealing nearly $1 million worth of merchandise from Lululemon stores across the country. They were caught by an investigator at a store in Woodbury, Minnesota, and were found to be part of an organized crime group. The couple allegedly stole items by removing security sensors and concealing them before leaving the store. They would then exchange the stolen items at other stores. Lululemon’s vice president of asset protection expressed the company’s commitment to creating a safe environment for staff and customers and working with law enforcement to combat retail crime. Following their arrest, over $50,000 worth of stolen clothing was found in a hotel room rented by Richards. The couple was booked into jail and released on bail, with weekly check-ins required. Their next court date is scheduled for December 16. The couple’s attorneys did not provide a comment.
