Central Delaware Habitat for Humanity Receives Grant from Lowe’s to Assist Families in Need
DOVER — Central Delaware Habitat for Humanity (CDHFH) announced on November 22 that it has secured a $33,500 grant from Lowe’s aimed at repairing three homes in Kent County. This funding is part of CDHFH’s initiative to enhance home safety and health for families, thereby fostering stronger communities.
The grant will specifically assist the Brown family, whose mobile home is in dire need of repairs due to ongoing plumbing and HVAC issues. After an accident left Mrs. Brown reliant on her husband as a full-time caregiver, they discovered serious unaddressed needs, including a lack of running water at their residence. Moreover, they were misled about the responsibilities of connecting essential water and sewer services. Despite reaching out to multiple organizations, the couple could not find a timely solution until CDHFH intervened.
“We are grateful for Lowe’s support, which allows us to not only help the Brown family but also to address similar needs faced by many families in our community,” stated Tim Bailey, CEO of CDHFH. “The essential resources we can provide, such as heat and running water, are critical for these families.”
The funding from Lowe’s is part of a broader commitment involving a two-year, $6 million donation to Habitat for Humanity International, aimed at supporting home repair and preservation in owner-occupied residences. This year alone, Lowe’s funding will facilitate 295 projects through 110 local Habitat affiliates, assisting nearly 700 families across the United States. Since their partnership began in 2003, Lowe’s and Habitat have significantly impacted the lives of over 18,000 individuals, helping them build or improve their homes.
