Rapid City Mayor Supports Community Organizations | Lifestyle

Rapid City Mayor Jason Salamun was seen spreading the spirit of giving in the community on Friday. Starting at the Baken Park Family Fare for the Public Works AFSCME Food Drive, he urged people to donate food or cash to support Feeding South Dakota. The food drive, now in its third year, has collected over 2,100 pounds of food and $1,100 thanks to the generosity of the community.

After the food drive, Mayor Salamun headed to Safeway to assist the Salvation Army by ringing the bell and collecting donations. He emphasized the importance of giving back during the holiday season and hoped to inspire others to do the same. Mayor Salamun praised Rapid City for its generous spirit and encouraged residents to share the Christmas spirit with everyone.

The Red Kettle campaign by the Salvation Army will continue until Christmas Eve, and more bell ringers are needed. Those interested in volunteering can find out more information at registertoring.com. Mayor Salamun’s efforts to support these organizations and encourage the community to give back highlight the kindness and generosity found in Rapid City. The success of the food drive and ongoing support for the Salvation Army demonstrate the unity and compassion of the residents in making a positive impact on those in need during the holiday season.
