The 98th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will take place on Nov. 28, featuring 22 big balloons, 34 floats, 7 wheeled “balloonicles,” and more. The parade will be hosted by NBC’s “TODAY” show stars Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, and Al Roker. The parade route spans 2.5 miles from West 77th Street & Central Park West to Macy’s Herald Square on 34th Street. Viewers are advised to arrive early, as spots fill up quickly. The parade will air on NBC and Peacock with various performers, including Jennifer Hudson, T-Pain, and The Temptations.
There will be six new balloons, six new floats, and three new Balloonicles in this year’s parade. Spectators can watch the giant character balloons being prepared for flight on the Upper West Side the day before the parade.
The best viewing spots along the route are Central Park West and 6th Avenue, but viewers should avoid certain sections where viewing is limited. The parade will air on NBC from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with an encore presentation at 2:00 p.m. EST. The forecast for Thursday in New York City predicts rain, so attendees should come prepared with ponchos. Various performers, dance groups, and Broadway stars will entertain the crowd throughout the four-hour parade, including appearances by the New York Liberty, ensemble casts from Broadway shows, and Santa Claus.
