Multiple Trump Appointments Facing Threats of Bomb and Swatting

President-elect Donald Trump’s planned Cabinet nominees and administration appointees were targeted in bomb threats and “swatting” attacks, according to a spokesperson for the Trump transition team. The threats were deemed non-credible by law enforcement officials, and no devices or physical threats were found. The FBI is investigating the incidents and working with other law enforcement partners to ensure safety. Rep. Elise Stefanik and former Rep. Matt Gaetz were confirmed as targets of these threats.

Stefanik, her husband, and their three-year-old son were driving home when they were informed of a bomb threat to their residence, while Gaetz had a bomb squad called to his home in response to a threat. Despite these threats, the transition team said they would not be deterred, citing President Trump as an example of perseverance in the face of intimidation.

Similar tactics have been used in the past against individuals viewed as Trump adversaries, including judges and prosecutors involved in cases against him. This latest round of threats comes amid heightened tensions in the wake of the Capitol riot and ongoing challenges to the election results.

The Trump transition team expressed gratitude for the swift action taken by law enforcement to ensure the safety of those targeted. The FBI urged the public to report anything suspicious to law enforcement and emphasized that all potential threats are taken seriously. Despite the threats, the incoming officials are committed to continuing their work and not letting intimidation tactics disrupt their transition process.
