New Class of Medical Professionals Graduates from Cherokee Nation Surgical Technology Program


The Cherokee Nation Surgical Technology Program recently graduated four students, including valedictorian Hannah Parris, in a ceremony at the Cherokee Nation Outpatient Health Center. The program equips students with the skills needed to become surgical technologists, who assist surgeons in the operating room. The graduates passed the Nation Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting CST Certification Exam, showcasing their readiness to enter the field. Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. and Deputy Chief Bryan Warner praised the graduates for their dedication to serving the community and contributing to the health care system. The program, accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, aims to fill surgical technologist positions within the Cherokee Nation’s health care system with qualified Cherokee individuals. Program Director Rochelle Lewis commended the graduates for their commitment to excellence and patient care, highlighting their potential to make a difference in their careers. The Cherokee Nation Surgical Technology Program has graduated a total of 37 students since the 2019-2020 academic year.
