In a historic game between No. 6 Georgia and Georgia Tech, the Bulldogs pulled off an incredible comeback to win 44-42 in an eight-overtime thriller. Freshman Nate Frazier ran for a 2-point conversion in the eighth overtime to seal the victory for Georgia, who were down 17-0 at halftime. Carson Beck threw five touchdown passes, two of them in overtime, in a game where the Bulldogs never led until after regulation ended. Georgia Tech was led by Haynes King, who ran for three touchdowns and threw for two more, but the Yellow Jackets fell short in their seventh straight loss to Georgia. The game was the longest in SEC history and just one overtime shy of the record for any FBS game.
King appeared to seal the win for Georgia Tech with an 11-yard touchdown run in regulation, but the Bulldogs mounted a comeback with a turnover forced by their defense. Beck threw a touchdown pass to Dominic Lovett to tie the game and send it to overtime. The teams continued to trade matching touchdown passes and 2-point conversions through the fifth overtime until Frazier finally ended the game with a 2-point conversion in the eighth overtime. The victory may have secured Georgia a spot in the College Football Playoff, regardless of the outcome of the upcoming SEC championship game.
