The Sussex County Planning & Zoning Commission has approved the final plans for the construction of Ballenger, a new subdivision located on the east side of Hollymount Road between Beaver Dam Road and Route 24. The development will consist of 106 single-family homes, with amenities including a clubhouse, pool, and tot lot, as well as walking trails and sidewalks throughout the community. Developer Ribera Development of Millersville, Md., plans to create lots ranging from 7,514 to 16,144 square feet in the low-density AR-1 zone.
During the same meeting, the commission also granted preliminary approval for the expansion of an existing housing development near Lewes, and held a public hearing for a conditional-use permit for Twin Branch Winery in Milton to host events. The commission deferred its decision on the winery application, and a final vote is expected in the future. Overall, the approved projects aim to provide new housing options while preserving open space and supporting local businesses in Sussex County.
