City Solicitor and Planning Commission Counsel Sought in Rehoboth Beach

Rehoboth Beach, Delaware is currently searching for two new legal counsels to represent the city commissioners and the Planning Commission. The city has appointed interim legal counsel in the meantime, with Max Walton from Connelly Gallagher representing the city and William Larson from MG+M representing the Planning Commission. Both attorneys are based in New Castle County while the city continues its search for permanent representation.

City manager Taylour Tedder stated that the city is focusing on filling the city solicitor position first, and they are looking for someone in good standing with the Delaware Bar and with government experience. They are also seeking a candidate who can manage contracts with outside counsel. The Planning Commission may be looking for someone located closer, as Larson is based in Wilmington.

Former city solicitor Alex Burns left the position when his firm decided to stop representing the city. Despite the changes in legal representation, daily operations in Rehoboth Beach, including handling permits and liquor licenses, are generally unaffected.

The city has not yet reviewed the pool of applicants for the solicitor position, but they will begin doing so after the December 2 deadline for submissions. The search for new legal counsels is an important step for Rehoboth Beach as they seek to ensure effective legal representation for both the city commissioners and the Planning Commission.
