Delawareans voting in record-breaking numbers with early turnout

The 2019 Delaware State Legislature elections have seen a strong turnout in Sussex County, with over 30,300 votes already cast. New Castle County has seen 16,965 ballots cast, while Kent County has recorded 9,700 votes. Project manager Saine-Dukuray emphasized the importance of voting, citing her personal experience as an immigrant and concerns for her grandchildren’s education. She stressed that voting allows individuals to voice their preferences and shape their communities.

Despite the heavy voter turnout, election official Hartsky-Carter reported that voting has been running smoothly, with no significant issues and respectful behavior from voters. Delaware residents have the opportunity to vote early at various locations from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Tuesday, with extended hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. starting on Wednesday through November 3. Election Day is set for November 5.

The high levels of participation in Sussex County reflect a growing interest in the electoral process and civic engagement among Delaware residents. With a focus on improving education and other community priorities, voters are turning out in large numbers to make their voices heard. As the election date approaches, the strong voter turnout in Delaware is a positive sign of an engaged and active electorate.
