The New York Police Department released two new photos of a person of interest wanted for questioning in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. The photos show the individual wearing a blue medical mask and a black hoodie in one, and a dark-colored puffer jacket with the hood pulled over his head in the other. The NYPD has been able to track some of his movements by taxi. Thompson was shot outside the New York Hilton Midtown hotel and was targeted specifically, according to investigators. Shell casings found at the scene had the words “deny,” “delay,” and “depose” written on them. A combined $60,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the gunman.
The person of interest may have left the state, and investigators are looking into his movements. He may have traveled to New York City from Atlanta last month and stayed at a hostel on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Roommates at the hostel said he kept his mask on even while eating. Thompson’s wife mentioned that her husband had been receiving threats prior to the shooting. Authorities are continuing the investigation and are working with various agencies to track down the gunman responsible for Thompson’s death.
