Telefónica Tech and IBM Collaborate to Enhance Cybersecurity with Quantum-Safe Technology
Telefónica Tech, the digital business unit of Telefónica, has partnered with IBM to integrate IBM’s quantum-safe technology into its cybersecurity services to address risks associated with the advancement of quantum computing. The collaboration aims to develop specific use cases to protect organizations from potential security threats in a post-quantum world.
The agreement includes deploying IBM’s quantum-safe technology infrastructure at Telefónica Tech’s headquarters in Madrid to promote cyber resiliency against vulnerabilities arising from future cryptographically relevant quantum computers. IBM has developed enterprise software like Guardium Quantum Safe to help organizations manage cryptography and improve security posture.
The collaboration will focus on creating solutions that implement new quantum-safe cryptography standards to protect critical data from potential decryption by quantum computers. IBM’s infrastructure, including IBM LinuxONE system and advanced encryption tools, has been deployed at Telefónica’s headquarters to provide a secure environment against post-quantum threats.
Telefónica Tech and IBM will also establish a joint use case office to develop key areas like communications encryption and adaptation to secure algorithms. The partnership aims to assist organizations in transitioning to quantum-safe encryption technologies to ensure resilience against cybersecurity risks posed by quantum computing.
The collaboration reflects a commitment to enhancing cybersecurity and addressing the challenges posed by quantum computing in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. Telefónica Tech and IBM are working together to provide innovative solutions to protect organizations’ critical data in the face of future security risks.
