Grieving loved ones in Delaware remember victims lost in tragic midair collision near D.C.


A tragic midair collision in Washington, D.C. has claimed the lives of three individuals with ties to the University of Delaware Figure Skating Club. Coach Alexandr Sasha Kirsanov, his 11-year-old student Sean Kay, and Sean’s mother Julia Kay were among the 67 victims. The trio was returning from a sports camp when their American Airlines flight was struck by an Army helicopter. Kirsanov, remembered as a beloved mentor, spent over 20 years coaching at the University of Delaware. Sean, a passionate ice dancer, will be missed by his father and three siblings. The University of Delaware is hosting a memorial service for the victims on Sunday, Feb. 2. Despite their grief, family members are grateful for the outpouring of support.
